Colour Palette....

Has now changed. After considering to use all black for my Graduate collection I have decided to use Black, White, Greys, natural tones and diverse surreal prints influenced by Salvadore Dali's paintings.

Overplayed

The tune is somewhat overplayed but this is the first time I have seen this video. Big fan of the mix media used the overlay of animation, which gives the charaters ambiguous meanings and movements, the Mischka type eyeballs surrounding the hotness!

The track is that bit more dope when u watch this video.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

So I decided to avoid the rush for to watch NOTORIUS, the thoughts of loads of RUDEBOYS' singin 'BIGGI BIGGI CANT YOU SEE...' whilst watching a movie I have long waited to view was not too appealing so i decided to go watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

A masterful piece of cinema, and a moving treatise on death, loss, loneliness and love. Was quite moving and made you think of your loved ones, mainly the ones you have lost. Elements of the film reminded me so much of Forrest Gump, and later I realised that was probably due to the the screen writer was same for both: Eric Roth.

The most gripping part of the film for me was the Fashion! Not materialistic at all! In particular the Levi clothing used, filmmakers worked closely with Levi's to obtain clothing items from their Levi's Vintage Clothing collection to authenticate various time periods captured throughout the film. It was like a time line of Levi denim, starting with what looked like the one pocket Levi 1901 xx cinchback washed out.

Finally BINDED!

The dissertation was something of a concern for me due to me not being very assertive when it comes to academic side of my course, but with some help and advice from some freinds I managed to get it handed in on time! HOW IF AT ALL DOES GENIUS EXIST WITHIN FASHION was my title, a philosophical view on the work of Elsa Schiaparelli, Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakubo and Nigo, trying to define the meanining of the term Genius within the Fashion industry. A huge stress off my shoulders now focus is FINAL COLLECTION!!
Me and my boy Oke celebrated the binding process together!

Look out for Oke's work coming soon.

Make Your Own:

Paul Smith shirt!

Probably the most complex in a series of MAKE YOUR OWN garment, other designers include Vivienne Westwood, Martin Margiela, Jade Jagger and Alice Temperley.

A great ethical, Green concept, recycling garments and making them into more suitable wearable products. Vintage shirts usually have great prints and are often one of kind, especially ones found in a Vintage/Thrift store. The only thing lacking is the fit. It is often very roomy and unflattering. Paul Smith maker of great shirts gives you a step by step guide on how to manipulate the pattern of the shirt to create a more desireable fit. Splendid!

World Cup Italia 1990

The best World Cup in the history of World Cups?

To me yes. Definately. After seeing Barnsey on Soccer AM this morning performing his rap live brought a shiver to my spine and all the memories flooding back! They say our sense of smell is connected really well to our memory but hearing the NEW ORDER - World in Motion tune has got to be up there!

The rap scene was between Des Walker and John Barnes, Gazza wanted to get involved but the geordie accent would surely not of pulled it quite off like Barnsey did! Listen to the track and i bet you cant help dancing like a memeber of WHAM when Barnsey drops in!

I remeber having the sticker book, and Gary Lineker was my favourite player, Gazza cryin, Baggio's emergence, David Platts goal that everyone tried re-creating in the playground the next day, the mini coca cola footballs with the Italia 90 stick man on it....

ahhhhh the NOSTALGIA!

Buyin POWER

So the recession has hit many stores independent boutiques, the latest to go is Maharishi and also its diffusion line MHI. They have recently been bought out by JD Group, probably better known as JD Sports and Size?. JD also recently bought Footpatrol, the DPMHI store will now be Hideout and Stussy combined and also hold a Bathing Ape concession, while the A Bathing Store will be moving to Floral Street where Maharishi used to be..... Maharish amd MHI loks like it may be sold in SIZE? stores.

By doing this I feel it makes exclusive streetwear even more mainstream then it already has become, a shame to see, and loses its staff/customer relations. The small community 'who stay true to the game' will be forced to sell out to survive.

Vans x Nike?

errr NO!

This is the new Nike zoom Toki Lux = Vans Chukka boot

its seems Vans are the strongest in the shoe game right now, many brands imitating there models and jus addin a simple touch of branding to make it their own model of shoe.... i guess the originality comes from the material use and colours, also the extorsionate price!?? Sayin that this is a nice summer shoe!

In the movie "Toy Story", the carpet designs in Sid's hallway is the same as the carpet designs in "The Shining."

Most likely to create that chiling atmosphere that Sid's character has! There are many quirky elements/in-jokes the designers and producers share in Toy Story.... certain things you would not recognise without actually knowing what they are!

Re-cycled Vintage French Rabbit Fur

Balenciaga Fall 2009

After recieveng a FREE bag full of Vintage French Rabbit Fur, I decided to incorperate within my collection. Thanks to Simon Godlove.

Coolman and Godlove

Real Fur also holds that controversial element which activists do take rather seriously. Im no animal killer and after seeing the programme KILL IT, SKIN IT, WEAR IT: I was rather upset in the way the animals were killed. Foxes skinned alive, baby seals clubbed to death was quite horrific and emotional viewing.

I also see these furs I recieved as a bi-product, they were not killed to make my collection, the jackets will be de-constructed and re-cycled, re-constructed and used. So am I wrong to use these?
