Colour Palette.

For my upcoming collection I have been considering a Monochromatic Tonal Collection. Meaning one colour for the whole collection with varied tones and fabric texture.

After seeing work by Giuliano Fujiwara and Hannah Marshall I think it will work well with the the idea of construction, layering, detail and silhouette of my garments and outfits.

The End Of The Beginning ....pre_COLLECTION

So the lack of blogging has been due to the RIDICULOUS amount of work that has been coming my way. Juggling briefs left right and centre it seems as tho the hard work has started to finally pay off.

This blog is to cover my final year at LCAD as a visual diary of interests and inspirations for my Final Collection. Pre-Collection research and design developement has just been handed in and given positive feedback by my tutors.

I decided to base my Pre-Collection on Surrealism and the work of Elsa Schiaperelli. Many artists then became prominent, such as:

Elsa Schiaperelli

Coco Chanel

Salvadoré Dali

Man Ray

These are just a few to name that will influence my research for a Streetwear Collection morphed with a 'Couture twist', produced with luxury fabrics and quality detailing throughout

A slight taster of whats to come:

Nike Spring 2009 Footwear

Two models from this collection instantlu caught my eye. The Vintage blazer as I have been searchin for this shoe religously on eBay! Hopefully there will be more colorways to come but the red is dope!
Then the Air Pegasus 89 'OG! For the simple fact I wanted them so bad in primary school, but all I recieved was a pair of Arrows from Barratts! To rub salt in the wound, a friend of mine who I did not particularly like got them in the dopest colorway, and outshone my Arrows wasnt hard though hey!

Stussy x Futura

Stussy have come together with one of my favourite Graf Artist Futura. The signature spray can tee is my personal favourite and a defo pick up for me!

He also recently collaborated with Burton on snowboard under garments. Consisting of a top and bottom, the pieces combine Burton’s superb quality apparel with a pixelated print done by Futura.

"Fascist protect the FASCIST!!

It was an eventful weekend in Leeds City Centre. Most prominently that there was an organistaion called the BPP, a National Fascist Group demonstrated their White Supremacy ideals outside HMV, protesting against Black Music and its influence on the U.K. These narrow minded idiots were supposed to turn up at 9a.m but all that gathered outside HMV were a number of Riot Vans and then suddenly a hoard of Anti-Fascist campaigners came trooping through top protest against the vile BPP.

A anti-fascist flyer read:

"The BPP are a group of vicious racists and neo-nazis, they are supporters of Adolf Hitler, and want White supremacy and not White equality."

Being an Ethnic minority my self it was quite heart warming to see such a vast amount of people believing in Unity rather then ultra Nationalism. Their hatred is upon Blacks, Asians, Gays and basically everything that is not a White British.

They eventually turned up in little numbers, 15 at the most with children. Protected by the Police. Thats when I heard the cry:
"FASCIST PROTECTED BY FASCISTS!"

Anti-fascists protest
Police
Quite a turn out:

Great Black Music:
Police protect the BPP:

I then asked the officer:

"have you ever heard that track by NWA?"
"which ones that then?" he replied
"You know 'FUCK DA POLICE' ?"

Terry Richardson Photographer

Richardson's photographs are often to some extent autobiographical and frequently graphically depict sexual subject matter, erotic nature and controversial style has given him that edge and his work is instantly recogniseable. Something I feel makes a good Photographer.

Here is his latest shoot with Marc Jacobs, Lily Cole and Leo Fitzpatrick. We also get to see Jacob’s tattoo work which includes the likes of Sponge Bob, Eric Cartman, a Simpsonized version of himself and matching “Bros over Hos” piece with tattoo and graphic artist extraordinaire Scot Campbell.

welcome to Terrys World!

King Stampede x New Era

Seen as everyone is collaborating with New Era these days its hard to come up with an original concept for the cap.

King Stampede recently released their collaboration with New Era and changed up the structure and shape of the cap.

Almost like a Fidel Castro shape style cap 2 panel instead of 4. Best New Era collabo shape wise I have seen for a while.

Head Porter 2008 Fall/Winter iPhone Case Collection

Finally a decent case for my iPhone. Head Porter latest collection looks rather appealing my personal favourites would have to be the Zebra and Leopard print and also the Quilted. Hopefully will get a UK release at a decent price.

House of Bendie Exposure

House of Bendie getting some recognition you may remeber I did a feature on him a while back. He is now gettin some of the public eye, via TIMEOUT magazine, the drummer in Keane wearing House of Bendie on Jonathan Ross and also been worn by the cast of SKINS.

Using the finest wool fabrics for the outer and extremely eccentric linings to create one off pieces to your specification, now has a website currently under construction.

Viktor & Rolf @ Barbican Gallery

Back on the blogging, busy times with moving into a new pad and sortin stuff out for my final year at Uni, meaning collection and dissertation hence THE END OF THE BEGINNING.
Anyway I went to see Viktor & Rolf Exhibition at the Barbican Gallery and must say it was the most thrilling out of all the ones I went to in a 2 day exhibition binge.

Never have I really studied their work before and on arrival I thought they must have a slight obsession with dolls, the ceramic type that scare the shit out of you!! This is the first time in the United Kingdom that an exhibition has been devoted to this highly influential duo. Over the past 15 years Viktor & Rolf have taken the fashion world by storm with their particular blend of cool irony and surreal beauty. Characteristics of their clothes include layering, distorting, exaggerating and repeating of classical design elements, and artsitic concept driven ways of presenting their unique collections such as the Russian Doll style layering where one single model stood and wore couture dress after couture dress:

here are some "STICTLY NO PHOTOGRAPHY" photos:

In November 2006, Viktor & Rolf followed Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney in designing a line for the Swedish-based retailer H&M

THERE GOES THE EXCLUSIVE!

So a week or so ago, I, the music Doc J.P.W brought you and exclusive clip of Kanyeeeeeezy performing a track that was believed to be from his next album. So at the MTV Video Music Awards at the World famous Paramount Studio's last night Kanye performed the track Officially! Love Locked Down is not only a great song but in my opinion one of the best Kanye may have ever done? I'm an instant lover of the track. This performance killed the whole show for me. Whilst everyone was trying their hardest to look special and extraordinary Kanye just rolled up at the very end and proved his worth. I've seen Kanye a few times in concert now and this is by far the best performance I have ever seen from the man!

Truly amazing performance! ENJOY (oh, and try and ignore the sex pest at the end)
