Trickers x Present

As I lost my beloved Red Wing boots a couple of months back I have been deciding on which she would replace them. Go for the same model again or maybe go for the Chukka.... until I saw the Junya Watanabe boot! A brogue style upper with a Vibram sole, hand crafted leather it was the perfect solution! One minor hitch it was £785!! So dreams shattered.... until I came across a new shop in Shoreditch, London called Present.

Part coffee shop part premium Urban street style clothing and accecories. They had collaborated with Trickers on a boot very similar to the Junya Watanabe one. It came in Red Brick, Olive and Navy. Take a peek!

Inspiration.

A bit deep and emotional for a mid Thursday afternoon, but I came across these moving positive stories via Rawfit website, a simple message telling you "yes you can as long as you make up your mind" a positive outlook on life no matter what may come your way and make the best of what you have. A father and son whose positivite attitude, drive and determination shows anything is possible.

Yes you CAN.

The Wizard

There is nothing better then old school films that take you to that moment in time where you was so impressionable and carefree.

The Wizard starring Fred Savage the guy from The Wonder Years, is one of them that makes me feel like a kid again. About a young boy who suffers from a mental disorder, but has exceptional talent in playing video games so they travel across America to play in the The World Video Game Championships!

You may remember the Nintendo Power Glove!

"You got 50,000 on Double Dragon?!"

Velvet wrapped

Martin Margiela has taken a regular shaped sneakers and wrapped them in a coating of velvet. Its an interesting concept and in particular I like the high top version, and the whole mono-tone-ness of the shoe.

Shoes glorious shoes!

Fedor-ap

Thats Fedora/Cap. In innovative hybrid by Soulland. Taken from their Spring/Summer 2010, they have simply taken the fedora hat cut away the brim and added a cap peak to the front. Its all aboput generic modification for me right now taking simple day to day objects and fusing then or re-inventing them.

Thats a Cap.

Jacko x KAWS

Puffy Blazer

I remember in my 2nd year designing various Blazer jackets as a practice where we had to make a half a tailored jacket and the tutor chose one of the designs and amongst the sketched drawing was a Puffy Blazer made in part wool and polyester. She did not opt for my version of the puffy blazer, but Thom Browne must have a great mind also! His work with Moncler has produced some nice outerwear for this Winter. Maybe he needs to get me in amongst the design team!

My half jacket (below) which coincidentally happened to be the same pattern and colour as Sam 'ACE' Rothstein from movie Casino!!

Revolver 2009 Fall

This collection caught my eye, the simple design details, interesting shape of the shirt and very trend streetwear colours and prints right now. The Navy inspired varsity jacket I would say is my favourite piece from the collection.

Simple...

.....design by not so simple people. When it comes to footwear for me now I am into simplicity and classic shoes. Shoes that are not overdesigned and have too much going on. Maybe its my maturity kicking in. Fragment design x Nike All Court Premium pack is where i'm at, personifies my style of sneaker right now. A vintage classic Nike shoe, subtle design detail, and high quality fabrics. Take a peek:

Simply the best.

Monday morning

Recently I have not felt so inspired with surrounding activities and on-goings. Whilst also looking for a job in the Industry, hopefully abroad its been somewhat mundane and all the same. I woke up today and felt vivrant and thought to myself today is going to be a good day.

move over Shilpa!

The local newspaper heard about the Fashion show that I recently had and decided they wanted to interview me, publicity is always good and maybe an opportunity to push my name and work. Interview was fairly brief and they took a quick snap.

A week later I picked up some copies of Asian Express to find it plastered on the front page, and also an article on page 3. Shilpa and her competition took a backseat :)

Not quite Vogue but its a start!
